Senior Project Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a diligent Senior Project Accountant to join our client’s finance team in Fareham. The role provides end‑to‑end financial oversight of customer projects, from contract award through delivery and cash collection, helping to maximise profitability and support commercial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Understand contract terms, milestones and payment schedules; raise accurate invoices and monitor aged debtors.
• Prepare monthly revenue‑recognition journals, reconcile accrued and deferred income, and maintain audit evidence.
• Produce monthly project P&L statements, analyse variances, and partner with project managers to review performance against budget.
• Maintain inventory valuation, support Bill of Materials (BOM) implementation and standard costing, and improve stock‑control processes.
• Support weekly cash‑flow forecasting and provide financial analysis for commercial decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project accounting or commercial finance within a project‑driven environment.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition, cost allocation and inventory accounting.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to produce clear, actionable financial reports.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project, manufacturing and supply‑chain teams.
