Senior Project Manager – Rail Infrastructure

About the role

Ridge is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead light rail, heavy rail and broader rail infrastructure projects from delivery through implementation. The role can be based in one of our UK offices – London, Birmingham, Bristol, Oxford or Manchester – and involves managing contracts, budgets, risks and stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate actions, track progress and report on project performance.
• Lead major projects and frameworks, ensuring delivery on time, cost and quality.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with governance, risk and assurance processes across all projects.
• Represent Ridge and its clients on projects and programmes, updating contractual milestones in project systems.
• Set up document and project management plans and monitor deviations, informing stakeholders as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing light rail, heavy rail or wider rail infrastructure projects through delivery and implementation.
• Strong knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
• Experience handling project budgets, costs, risks and programmes.
• Ability to manage contractors, consultants and multiple stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the capacity to produce clear reports for varied audiences.
• Understanding of CDM responsibilities from a client perspective.
