Senior Property Lawyer – Local Authority (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Lawyer to join a well‑established local authority legal team on a locum basis. The role involves handling a broad range of commercial and residential property matters, supporting major projects, acquisitions, disposals, regeneration schemes and landlord‑tenant work.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a mixed caseload of commercial and residential property matters.
• Advise on acquisitions, disposals, leases, licences and easements.
• Support property development and regeneration projects.
• Provide advice on landlord and tenant issues.
• Deliver legal support for land transactions and related property matters.
• Supervise and mentor fee earners within the team.
• Build effective relationships with internal clients and stakeholders.
• Deputise for the Principal Property Lawyer when required.
• Collaborate to achieve the wider objectives of the legal service.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
• Strong experience in commercial and/or residential property law.
• Experience in local government or public sector preferred, private practice also considered.
• Ability to handle routine and complex property matters independently.
• Proven experience supervising junior legal professionals.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication abilities.
• Comfortable managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Proficient with case management systems and legal research tools.
• Proactive, collaborative and solution‑focused approach.
