Senior Prospect Research Manager

About the role

The Senior Prospect Research Manager will lead the global prospect research function for a well‑established animal welfare charity. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Philanthropy, the role combines technical research expertise with strategic influence to drive fundraising growth across the UK, US and European markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage a proactive global prospect research function to identify, research and qualify high‑value individual donors, trusts, foundations and corporate prospects.
• Produce detailed prospect profiles, briefings and research reports to inform donor engagement strategies.
• Create and interpret Salesforce reports to track the prospect pipeline, prioritise prospects and monitor pipeline movements.
• Shape the prospect research strategy in collaboration with Global Philanthropy to deliver a sustainable pipeline that meets fundraising targets.
• Implement and embed prospect research systems, processes and best practices to improve fundraising effectiveness.
• Lead ethical fundraising processes, including due‑diligence, donation acceptance procedures and compliance with GDPR and fundraising regulations.
• Stay up‑to‑date with developments in prospect research, data insight and emerging technologies such as AI.

Required profile

• Significant experience in prospect research within a fundraising environment, preferably in an international or comparable setting.
• Proven ability to build and manage prospect pipelines and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of ethical fundraising standards, due‑diligence and GDPR compliance.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across UK, US and European markets.

What we offer

• Salary £47,000 – £50,000 per year
• Full‑time permanent contract
• Hybrid working pattern with two days per week in the Surrey office
