Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Hill Group UK is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its Special Projects region, based in East London. You will lead commercial delivery of large‑scale residential developments, overseeing cost control, procurement and reporting across multiple phases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial delivery from pre‑start to final account, managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments and claims.
• Prepare and review cost forecasts, valuations, CVCs and outturn summaries, and contribute to early‑stage design reviews and value engineering.
• Mentor trainee and assistant surveyors, supporting performance reviews and development.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, contract terms and ISO9001 standards, and represent Hill at client and consultant meetings.

Required profile

• HND/HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying or related subject.
• Chartered (or working towards) RICS or MCIOB status.
• Strong experience managing commercial aspects of residential developments.
• Excellent understanding of subcontract terms, procurement and cost control.

Required skills

• Cost control and forecasting.
• Subcontractor procurement and valuation.
• Remeasurement for RC frame, groundworks and brickwork.
• Negotiation of final accounts, claims and changes.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and Health & Safety in construction.
