Senior Reliability Engineer

About the role

This is a senior, hands‑on reliability engineering position for a leading FMCG manufacturer. You will lead the shift engineering team, own maintenance activities and drive continuous improvement across a fast‑paced production site.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of CMMS work orders and keep maintenance activity up to date.
• Lead and support planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance work.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with production teams to meet performance targets.
• Support shutdowns, overhauls and planned maintenance activities.
• Coordinate contractors, ensuring safe and correct execution of work.
• Drive continuous‑improvement ideas that enhance site reliability.
• Coach and develop shift engineers through training and mentorship.
• Ensure safety, GMP and food‑safety standards are consistently met.
• Maintain tools, equipment and critical plant in optimal condition.

Required profile

• Practical, reliable and confident in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding ability.
• Hands‑on maintenance background, not just theory.
• Experience supervising engineers or contractors on shift.
• Good understanding of health & safety standards (IOSH desirable).
• Comfortable using CMMS systems and basic IT tools.
• Proactive “fix it properly” mindset.
