Senior Research Integrity Screener

About the role

The Senior Research Integrity Screener will support research integrity and publishing ethics across Elsevier’s journal portfolio. Working closely with editors, publishers, authors and internal stakeholders, you will assess manuscripts for potential integrity concerns, manage ethics cases and help improve screening processes.

Key responsibilities

• Review manuscripts flagged by research integrity screening tools and determine appropriate actions.
• Distinguish valid concerns from false positives through detailed analysis and fact‑checking.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to editors, publishers and authors.
• Prioritise, assign and manage publishing ethics cases in line with service‑level agreements.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert, coaching colleagues and sharing best practices.
• Lead or contribute to initiatives that improve workflows, operational effectiveness and integrity outcomes.
• Identify emerging risks and recommend policy or process enhancements.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability with evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Excellent attention to detail and methodical investigative approach.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Organisational and prioritisation skills to manage competing priorities.
• Experience with policies, compliance frameworks, quality assurance or editorial workflows.
• Background in research integrity, publishing ethics, manuscript screening or scholarly publishing.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor and influence team development.
• Experience leading process‑improvement initiatives.
