Senior Risk & Compliance Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a prestigious London law firm to recruit a Senior Risk & Compliance Manager. The role works closely with the Risk & Compliance Director, providing strategic and operational support across regulatory, compliance and risk management functions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client Outside Counsel Guidelines, review contractual arrangements and support compliance through onboarding systems.
• Advise on conflicts of interest, conduct initial conflict analysis and guide on SRA Code of Conduct requirements.
• Assist with complaints handling, prepare correspondence, liaise with internal stakeholders and support matters involving the Legal Ombudsman and SRA.
• Provide guidance to fee earners on professional conduct, regulatory obligations and risk management queries.
• Draft, review and maintain internal risk management policies and procedures.
• Support document production requests from clients, regulators and third parties.
• Conduct ongoing internal file reviews to ensure compliance with firm‑wide quality and regulatory standards.
• Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and wider ISO compliance initiatives.
• Assist with the firm’s Responsible Business and ESG‑related compliance obligations.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or equivalent overseas‑qualified lawyer with an unrestricted right to practise.
• Minimum 4 years’ post‑qualification experience (PQE).
• Experience within a Risk & Compliance function or as a fee earner in an English law firm.
• Strong working knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct and the broader regulatory framework.
• Knowledge of AML, sanctions, source of funds, PEPs and related compliance areas.
