Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Cloud Platform (Hybrid, Luton)

About the role

Vertage is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join its Global Platform Team. You will help build and operate the Azure‑based cloud platform that powers the company’s Workforce‑as‑a‑Service ecosystem, working closely with Cloud, Data and AI engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Improve reliability, availability and performance of Azure production environments.
• Build and enhance monitoring, logging and alerting using Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Automate operational tasks with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and scripting.
• Design self‑healing capabilities and automated remediation to reduce incidents.
• Investigate production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term fixes.
• Define, measure and improve Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

Required profile

• 7+ years of hands‑on experience operating production systems as an SRE, Platform, DevOps or Cloud Engineer.
• Strong passion for building reliable, automated systems and a preference for staying technical rather than moving into people management.
• Ability to work independently, make technical decisions and dive deep into complex problems.

• Microsoft Azure (including Azure Databricks)
• Terraform for IaC
• CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
• Observability tools: Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics
• Scripting languages: Python, Bash
• Kubernetes
• GitOps principles
• SnapLogic or similar integration platforms (plus)
