Senior Social Worker – Fostering Service

About the role

Our client Barnsley Hiring (Yorkshire Collab) is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join their fostering service in Barnsley. The role involves managing a complex, high‑risk workload and supporting children, young people and families in challenging situations.

Key responsibilities

• Work in partnership with children, young people and families/carers, building effective relationships and promoting participation in decision‑making.
• Undertake high‑quality assessments and manage risk in complex cases, producing detailed reports in line with statutory standards.
• Plan, implement and review interventions for children, young people and families, ensuring compliance with regulatory policies.
• Manage a demanding workload independently while mentoring less‑experienced colleagues and modelling best practice.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and produce succinct reports that clearly articulate analysis and judgments.

Required profile

• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in a social work role, preferably within fostering or child protection.
• Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and adherence to the Professional Capabilities Framework at Experienced Social Worker level.
• Ability to work autonomously, make sound judgments on risk and engage effectively with internal and external partners.
