Senior Social Worker – Screening First Response

About the role

Our client, Leicestershire County Council, is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join its Screening First Response team within the Children’s Social Care Front Door. The role focuses on quickly assessing contacts and referrals to ensure children and families receive the appropriate response at the right time.

Key responsibilities

• Screen and triage all contacts and referrals concerning children and young people.
• Gather and analyse information from families, professionals and partner agencies.
• Apply safeguarding thresholds and provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations.
• Record decisions, rationale and outcomes accurately within required timescales.
• Collaborate with Children’s Social Care, Targeted Family Help and multi‑agency partners.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
• Recent experience in Children’s Social Care, preferably in front‑door, MASH, screening, duty or assessment roles.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and confidence in threshold decision‑making.
• Ability to work at pace in a high‑volume environment.

Required skills

• Excellent recording, analysis and communication abilities.
