Senior Software Developer

About the role

As a Senior Software Developer in AVEVA's Industrial Platform Group, you will help design, develop and evolve CONNECT – the core industrial intelligence platform used by leading companies worldwide. Working in a hybrid setting in Cambridge, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver scalable, cloud‑native capabilities that drive digital transformation for AVEVA customers and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement core features of the CONNECT platform alongside other software engineers.
• Improve platform scalability, reliability and performance to meet industry standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across services and interfaces.
• Monitor platform metrics and ensure high availability.
• Participate in agile activities such as code reviews, testing and planning.

Required profile

• A STEM degree or equivalent qualification.
• At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented design and best practices for maintainability and testability.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservice architecture.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with other developers.

Required skills

• C# .NET (or similar language).
• Design and consumption of RESTful APIs.
• Microservice design patterns.
• Microsoft Azure services such as Cosmos DB, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Service Bus, Event Hub and Application Insights.
• Cloud‑native architecture principles and distributed systems.
• Web development using Angular or equivalent front‑end framework.
