Senior Software Engineer – Ad Auctions

About the role

Roku is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the Ads Auction and Marketplace team. You will shape the real‑time, multi‑objective optimization systems that power CTV advertising across The Roku Channel and the Roku platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evolve low‑latency, highly reliable distributed auction services that handle billions of ad opportunities.
• Own core auction capabilities such as ad pod construction, bid evaluation, ranking, pricing, pacing, budget enforcement, and frequency capping.
• Develop and refine SSP‑side auction mechanisms and integrate with multiple DSPs, programmatic demand sources, and direct‑sold campaigns.
• Build control and simulation systems, design experiments, and extend the experimentation framework.
• Partner closely with product managers, data scientists, engineering, inventory, and product teams to define vision, strategy, and roadmap.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience building and guiding high‑performing engineering teams.
• Strong technical judgment with a track record of delivering large‑scale, low‑latency distributed systems.
• Excellent cross‑functional collaboration skills, able to work with product, data science, and operations stakeholders.
