Senior Software Engineer – Embedded C++

About the role

Join Roku’s OS, OS Extensions and Apps team to develop core features that enable top‑tier streaming applications such as Netflix, YouTube and BBC on the Roku platform. You will work on embedded systems, leveraging NDK development, DRM, browser technologies, audio‑video streaming standards, graphics and performance optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Understand and design architecture needed for world‑class streaming experiences on Roku OS.
• Develop software for audio, video and graphics functionality, including porting and optimisation.
• Collaborate with partner certification teams to resolve certification issues.
• Work on embedded browser technologies (WebKit, Chromium) used by partner applications.
• Deliver new features independently and within small groups, meeting deadlines.
• Write high‑performance, ultra‑reliable C++ code that is modular and maintainable.
• Investigate and solve complex problems affecting millions of users.

Required profile

• 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Extensive programming experience with C++.
• Proven success in embedded system development projects on Linux.
• Deep understanding of streaming media standards and performance optimisation.
