Senior Specialist, Issuing Operations

About the role

Checkout.com is seeking a talented Senior Specialist to join the adventure and support the business’s growing Issuing Operations team based in London. As a Senior Specialist, you will be the primary engine behind our client launches, working closely with clients to define requirements and coordinating internal stakeholders to bring card programs to life.

Key responsibilities

• End-to-End Implementation: Manage day‑to‑day onboarding activities for new Issuing clients, ensuring technical and operational milestones are met.
• External Project Contribution: Act as an operational stakeholder on projects with Card Schemes (Visa/Mastercard) and third‑party suppliers, aligning technical setup with scheme mandates.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the central hub between Sales, Finance, Risk, Legal, and Engineering to ensure seamless information flow.
• Client Relationship Management: Be the main point of contact during implementation, translating complex requirements into actionable plans.
• Process Refinement: Identify bottlenecks in the onboarding journey and build improved workflows to boost delivery speed.
• Operational Readiness: Ensure Operations and Support teams are fully briefed and prepared for client go‑live.
• Operational Rigor: Handle documentation, system configuration, and data entry to maintain a compliant, technically sound project foundation.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in payments, focusing on project delivery, scheme management, technical onboarding, or issuing operations.
• Proven track record with card schemes or third‑party fintech suppliers, understanding scheme rules and digital wallet integration.
• Delivery‑focused with a history of managing customer‑facing projects and meeting deadlines.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, seeking efficient solutions over quick fixes.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to execute high‑volume tasks, balancing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Detail‑oriented, comfortable owning administrative work to ensure projects are technically sound.
