Senior Specialist – Legal Entity Controller (Accounting)

About the role

BNY is looking for a Senior Specialist to join the EMEA Controllers team in Manchester. The role focuses on controlling and reporting for Pershing legal entities, ensuring accurate financial statements and compliance across UK FRS and US GAAP frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead controller for Pershing Channel Islands and Pershing Limited.
• Oversee funding processes and IMMS cash reconciliations.
• Coordinate monthly management accounts under UK FRS and US GAAP, including variance analysis.
• Participate in daily control processes and manage clearing cost accruals.
• Handle intercompany break management and balance‑sheet substantiation reviews.
• Coordinate annual financial statements, liaise with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
• Supervise off‑site accounting teams, providing guidance and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with Treasury, regulatory reporting teams and support disaster‑recovery activities.
• Perform ad‑hoc duties as required.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with a professional certification (CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or on‑track qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Several years of progressive accounting/controllership experience in financial services or regulated environments.
• Experience preparing financial statements and working with external auditors.
• Hands‑on involvement in automation, data‑quality improvement and close‑process acceleration.
