Senior Technical Specialist - DMPK

About the role

A highly experienced lab and office-based bioanalyst is needed at IQVIA's Cambridge site, supporting both multidisciplinary integrated Drug Discovery projects and standalone DMPK projects. The role combines hands-on bioanalytical expertise with project leadership, mentoring and continuous improvement, covering small and large molecule drug discovery programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimise and run bioanalysis of samples from in vivo DMPK studies for small and large molecule projects in an early discovery setting.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and optimise mass spectrometry and LC equipment so it runs reliably and issues are resolved quickly.
• Analyse sample types such as plasma, blood, brain, lung, bile, faeces and urine.
• Determine pharmacokinetic parameters and understand their underlying principles.
• Lead scientific and technical projects to deliver high-quality data on agreed timelines.
• Drive innovation by developing novel assays, protocols and analytical approaches.
• Mentor, coach and develop colleagues, acting as a technical role model and subject matter expert.

Required profile

• BSc or equivalent in a relevant scientific area.
• Industry experience in pharma, biotech or another commercial organisation.
• Experience in bioanalytical method development of challenging analytes in complex matrices.
• Experience guiding or mentoring junior colleagues.
• Good verbal and written communication and strong teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Expert use of mass spectrometry instrumentation.
• LC-MS/MS maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Bespoke method development for small molecules.
• Chromatographic method development with modern UPLC-MS systems and software.
