Senior/Principal Cable Route Design Engineer (Glasgow)

About the role

An exciting opportunity has opened within a UK‑based marine geoscience team for a senior Cable Route Engineer to lead offshore cable projects across renewables, interconnections and telecommunications. The role sits in a specialist marine geo‑team and acts as Technical Lead for offshore cable routing scopes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver GIS‑based route analysis and Cable Burial Risk Assessments (CBRA).
• Mentor junior team members and help shape the future direction of cable routing capability.
• Develop new methodologies, support bids and contribute to business development.
• Present technical capability to key clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists and geomorphologists.

Required profile

• Strong academic background in geoscience, GIS or subsea engineering.
• Industry experience in offshore cable routing using relevant tools.
• Proven experience with CBRA or Depth of Lowering assessments.
• Ability to analyse geotechnical and geospatial datasets.
• Track record of working effectively within collaborative project teams.
