Service Advisor – Automotive After‑sales

About the role

An established automotive retailer in Newbury is looking for a professional Service Advisor to join its busy after‑sales team. You will be the main point of contact for customers, guiding them from booking through to vehicle collection while ensuring a high‑quality service experience.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome customers and manage the service and repair process from booking to collection.
• Identify customer requirements, communicate them to the workshop, and prepare accurate estimates.
• Explain repair recommendations, obtain authorisation for additional work, and keep customers updated on progress.
• Promote service plans, maintenance packages and approved extra work.
• Complete all documentation and job records accurately.
• Liaise with Technicians, Workshop Controllers and Parts departments to ensure efficient workflow.
• Handle customer queries and resolve concerns professionally.
• Support departmental performance targets and after‑sales objectives.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Service Advisor in an automotive dealership, independent garage or after‑sales environment.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Strong organisational skills with the capacity to manage a busy workload.
• Ability to explain technical information clearly and professionally.
• Confidence using dealership management systems and computer‑based platforms.
• Positive, proactive approach to customer care.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
