Service Charge Accountant (Hybrid)

About the role

An established property management business in Southend-on-Sea is seeking an experienced Service Charge Accountant to join its finance team. The role involves managing a portfolio of residential and commercial properties, preparing budgets, reconciliations and client statements, while working in a supportive hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual service charge budgets and raise demands accurately and on time.
• Produce year‑end service charge reconciliations and liaise with external accountants as needed.
• Manage a portfolio of residential and commercial properties.
• Process utility recharges and tenant account adjustments.
• Prepare and issue client statements and provide financial information to clients.
• Support VAT reporting requirements.
• Manage arrears and debt collection activities.
• Liaise closely with property managers, tenants, leaseholders and clients.
• Attend client and internal meetings as required.

Required profile

• Previous service charge accounting experience.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel.
• Microsoft Office.
