Service Desk Engineer

About the role

Motion Applied is seeking a Service Desk Engineer to be the first technical point of contact for its user community, supporting business technology operations across multiple sites in the Woking area.

Key responsibilities

• Handle incoming technical support requests via the Service Desk system and walk‑ins to the Tech Bar.
• Provision, de‑commission and induct user devices for ICT systems.
• Run ICT inductions and support new staff onboarding.
• Install and package engineering applications for Windows and macOS.
• Manage meeting rooms, printers and related updates.
• Support asset, change and incident management processes within SLA.
• Capture knowledge and create support articles for the user community.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call support and liaise with hardware vendors.

Required profile

• Strong Windows and macOS troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience with Intune, Microsoft Defender, JAMF, Entra ID and the Microsoft 365 suite.
• Proven use of service‑desk ticketing tools.
• Application packaging experience for Windows and Mac.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage time effectively.
• Knowledge of information‑security frameworks such as ISO 27001 (advantage in automotive/rail sectors).
• Familiarity with engineering/CAD systems is a plus.
