Job description
About the role
Hogan Lovells is looking for a ServiceNow Solutions Developer based in London or Birmingham. The role blends technical and functional ServiceNow expertise with strong business analysis and communication skills, turning agreed business requirements into effective, scalable solutions. The person manages their own work with minimal supervision and escalates complex architecture, advanced scripting or specialist engineering decisions to the Principal ServiceNow Developer. ServiceNow is used across the firm's business teams, including IT, M&BD, Finance, People, Knowledge, the Office of the General Counsel, Operations and Communications.
Key responsibilities
- Work with the ServiceNow Engagement Lead and business stakeholders to turn requirements into functional and technical solution designs, including solution-design workshops.
- Design, configure, develop and implement end-to-end ServiceNow solutions (Flow Designer, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions, access controls, notifications, catalog items, forms and applications), through testing, deployment and post-implementation support.
- Improve business processes through workflow automation and self-service, and feed recommendations into the platform roadmap.
- Help embed ServiceNow AI capabilities such as Now Assist and AI Agents, and work with the Principal ServiceNow Developer on advanced agentic use cases.
- Design, develop and support integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems.
- Maintain functional and technical documentation, and assess the impact of releases, upgrades and patches on solutions.
- Support platform incidents, defects and deployment handover, and collaborate with the CMDB specialist on data quality and governance.
- Work within agile delivery practices, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
Required profile
- At least five years' hands-on experience designing, developing, configuring and implementing ServiceNow solutions, ideally in a complex, global organisation.
- Very good functional knowledge of the ServiceNow platform, with stakeholder engagement and solution-design workshop experience.
- Experience building custom scoped applications and enterprise workflows across multiple ServiceNow product areas, including CMDB and external data integration.
- Desirable: experience with ServiceNow AI capabilities and understanding of Now Assist, AI Agents and AI Agent Studio.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and/or Application Developer certification, or equivalent demonstrable experience, is desirable.
Required skills
- Flow Designer, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions, access controls, notifications, forms and catalog items.
- Integrations using REST, SOAP, APIs, IntegrationHub, MID Server and Import Sets.
- JavaScript, Glide APIs, HTML, CSS and XML.
- Agile methods, including Scrum.
Working hours are 35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm, with up to 40% of time working from home under a hybrid arrangement.
