SharePoint Engineer – Migration & Governance (6‑month contract)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced SharePoint Engineer to lead migrations, security hardening and customisation of SharePoint Online environments for a 6‑month contract. The role will focus on moving unstructured data from legacy systems while ensuring compliance and a modern user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Execute content migrations from on‑premises SharePoint, legacy EDRMS, file shares or other repositories to SharePoint Online using ShareGate, SPMT or PowerShell scripts.
• Analyse source data, map metadata, permissions and folder structures, and design migration strategies that minimise downtime and data loss.
• Design and implement modern branding, custom themes, site templates, SPFx web parts/extensions, hub sites and Power Apps/Power Automate integrations.
• Configure and maintain SharePoint Online site collections, libraries, lists, workflows and Microsoft 365 integrations (Teams, OneDrive, Purview).
• Automate repetitive admin tasks with PowerShell and Power Automate, and provide troubleshooting, training and documentation for users and admins.

Required profile

• 5+ years of SharePoint engineering or administration experience, with a proven track record of large‑scale migrations.
• Hands‑on experience handling unstructured enterprise content and implementing governance, compliance and security controls.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 security and compliance features such as Purview, sensitivity labels, retention policies and DLP.
