SHEQ Manager – Multi‑Site (North)

About the role

The company is a leading UK distribution business seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to oversee Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality across multiple sites in the North region. Reporting to senior leadership, you will drive compliance, continuous improvement and best practice throughout operational, commercial and supply‑chain activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor SHEQ management systems across all sites.
• Support and maintain health & safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Conduct audits, inspections and compliance reviews, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near‑misses and non‑conformances, produce root‑cause analysis reports.
• Monitor and report SHEQ performance metrics and trends.
• Assist with risk assessments, site inspections, toolbox talks and SHEQ briefings.
• Manage SHEQ software for data collection and reporting.
• Liaise with regulators, inspectors, customers and third‑party compliance bodies.
• Monitor contractor, service supplier and subcontractor compliance.
• Support environmental management, including CO₂ data collection and reporting.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of ISO‑aligned policies and management systems.
• Support customer and supplier compliance requirements on third‑party platforms.

Required profile

• Proven experience in SHEQ or compliance within distribution, logistics, warehousing or supply‑chain environments.
• Strong leadership and coaching capability.
• Collaborative, solutions‑focused approach with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and a practical, hands‑on working style.
• Customer‑focused mindset with commercial awareness.
• Recognised Level 5 or 6 qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental or Quality management.
• Strong knowledge of SHEQ legislation and compliance requirements.

What we offer

• Salary £45,000 – £50,000 per annum.
