Shipping Coordinator – Import & Export Logistics

About the role

As a Shipping Coordinator you will use your import and export freight expertise to ensure safe, timely and cost‑effective movement of products and materials. You will act as the main liaison between customers, freight agents and internal teams, handling shipment orders, tracking requests and returns while maintaining compliance with all regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Organise import and export shipments, obtain freight quotes and prepare required documentation.
• Communicate with customers and coordinate collections according to FCA Incoterms.
• Ensure all documentation (commercial invoices, shipping orders, CIPL, BOL, AWB, CMR, MRN) complies with destination country regulations.
• Maintain compliance with HMRC policy and International Trade Compliance procedures.
• Liaise with the Brokerage team to select appropriate customs regimes for imports.
• Coordinate with Sales, Production, Procurement and Warehouse teams to plan transportation and manage order flow.
• Address shipping delays, quality issues and maintain up‑to‑date shipping registers.
• Support audit and inspection preparation.

Required profile

• HND or equivalent in a relevant business discipline.
• Solid knowledge of logistics import/export procedures, customs regulations and Incoterms 2020.
• Experience in international sea, air and road transport operations and planning.
• Desirable CILT qualification and IATA/IMDG/ADR dangerous‑goods certification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of Incoterms 2020.
• Understanding of customs procedures.
• Familiarity with shipping documentation such as CIPL, Bill of Lading (BOL), Air Waybill (AWB), CMR and MRN.
