SME Account Handler – Insurance Brokerage

About the role

The SME Account Handler will join a leading insurance broker in Manchester, providing day‑to‑day service for small‑ and medium‑enterprise commercial clients. You will act as the primary contact for renewals, mid‑term adjustments, new business support and general enquiries, ensuring clients receive accurate advice and timely service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of SME policies, including renewals and mid‑term changes.
• Support new business initiatives by preparing quotes and liaising with underwriting teams.
• Respond promptly to client queries, providing clear and accurate information.
• Maintain strong relationships with insurers, internal underwriters and other stakeholders.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an SME or commercial insurance brokerage environment.
• Knowledge of core SME products such as package, property, liability and mini‑fleet.
• Excellent organisational abilities and strong attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with both clients and insurers.
• Proactive, reliable and able to manage competing deadlines.

Required skills

• Understanding of SME insurance products and policy structures.
