Social Visitor Volunteer – Fennell Bay
HammondCare Volunteers · Fennell Bay
Job description
About the role
A former Chef Manager living in Fennell Bay, Hunter NSW, is looking for a volunteer to share a cuppa, a good chat and a genuine connection. He is looking for a weekly or fortnightly social visit, either at home or out and about, to brighten his day.
The visits are one-on-one and focus on companionship, shared interests and meaningful moments: a relaxed chat, an outing or talking sport over a cuppa. The person being visited enjoys golf and fishing, follows Manchester United and the Melbourne Storms, and likes Clive Cussler adventure novels, action movies and documentaries.
HammondCare is an independent Christian charity that runs the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, funded by the Australian Government, to link elderly people with volunteers in their local community. Regular visits can improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
Required profile
- 18 years or older
- National Volunteer Police Check arranged
- Reference check
- Volunteer training provided
Visits are about one hour long, between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday, and can be weekly or fortnightly depending on availability. Interested people are contacted by phone or text, and then by email if needed; more information is available on the HammondCare volunteer website.
