Social Worker – Fostering (Agency) – Peterborough

About the role

Our client, Peterborough City Council, is looking for an agency Social Worker to join its Fostering team on a temporary basis. The role lasts a minimum of three months and offers a competitive hourly rate while providing essential support to fostering families.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a caseload of up to 15 fostering households.
• Conduct monthly supervisions and provide ongoing support to foster carers.
• Attend Child Care Reviews, placement planning meetings and other multidisciplinary meetings.
• Complete annual foster carer reviews and placement checks.
• Carry out risk assessments and ensure safeguarding standards are met.
• Support the placement team on a day‑duty rota.
• Collaborate with children’s social work, education and clinical teams.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker, fully registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in a local authority fostering role.
• Significant experience working directly with fostering families.

• £39 per hour on an umbrella contract.
• 37‑hour work week with one day per week in the office.
