Software Development Manager

About the role

Our client, an award‑winning technology company, is expanding its engineering organisation and needs a Software Development Manager to lead one of its high‑performing teams. You will be responsible for guiding the design, delivery and continuous improvement of mission‑critical applications that power a large‑scale platform used worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of software engineers, conducting performance reviews and supporting recruitment.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of software projects, working with product owners and stakeholders to plan, prioritise and track progress.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews and retrospectives.
• Provide technical direction, influence architectural decisions and ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable and secure.
• Drive improvements in coding standards, tooling, testing and CI/CD processes.
• Contribute to design, development, testing and release activities when required and maintain high‑quality documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams in a fast‑moving, Agile environment.
• Strong people‑management skills, including coaching, performance management and career development.
• Excellent communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Track record of delivering high‑quality software on time and to specification.
