Software Engineer (Hybrid, Portsmouth)

About the role

Sirius Digital is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Portsmouth team on a hybrid basis. You will deliver technical consultancy projects across defence, nuclear, space and energy sectors, working on software modelling, simulation and autonomous systems. The role offers a clear path for rapid career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality technical consultancy projects for clients in defence, nuclear, space and energy.
• Design, develop and implement software solutions for wargaming, simulation, autonomous systems, digital twins and synthetic environments.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Apply mathematical and computational techniques to solve real-world problems and innovate where needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering performant software applications, preferably in a consultancy setting.
• Knowledge of software modelling and simulation techniques.
• Ability to analyse requirements, define technical specifications and work with large codebases.
• Strong interpersonal skills for client and stakeholder engagement.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and work on client sites as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C, C++, C# and Python.
• Experience with videogame engine technologies such as Unreal Engine or Godot.
• Familiarity with entity or event-based simulation, robotics and autonomous systems.
• Competence with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
