Software Engineering Tech Lead / Manager – Java, JavaScript, ETL

About the role

This contract position is for a Software Engineering Tech Lead / Manager who will drive the development and maintenance of technology products for a high‑profile organisation in London. The role combines hands‑on technical work with leadership of Java, JavaScript and cloud‑based teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and manage a high‑performing software engineering team.
• Oversee design, development and delivery of scalable, reliable Java and JavaScript applications.
• Architect and implement distributed systems on Azure and GCP.
• Simplify complex data challenges, including match‑and‑merge and ETL processes.
• Drive Agile delivery and ensure product quality from concept to production.
• Engage with stakeholders across product, technical and senior management to shape strategy.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager in large, complex organisations.
• Hands‑on background with deep expertise in Java, JavaScript and cloud platforms.
• Track record of building and scaling high‑performing engineering teams.
• Ability to design architectures for scalability, reliability and performance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Flexible approach to hybrid working (three days on‑site).
