Software Test Engineer – Space Systems

About the role

MDA Space is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join its UK team working on cutting‑edge space payloads. You will design and develop both on‑board and ground‑test software for satellite and robotics missions, contributing to the delivery of innovative space solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain on‑board software and ground test software for payloads.
• Create and execute test cases to identify root‑cause issues and validate solutions.
• Estimate resources and schedule end‑to‑end software delivery for internal and external customers.
• Document APIs, code, and test results, and present findings to validation teams.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, sharing knowledge and supporting project objectives.
• Travel to other MDA or partner locations as needed to support project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven ability to translate requirements into software designs.
• Experience producing requirements, architecture, design, and test documentation.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on root‑cause analysis.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing business priorities.

Required skills

• C/C++ programming.
• Linux operating system development.
• Version control using Git.
• Software design and documentation.
