About the role
Grantley Hall, a five‑star luxury hotel in the North Yorkshire countryside, is seeking a dedicated Sommelier to lead its wine programme. You will be responsible for curating a cellar of over 300 wines, delivering exceptional wine service, and supporting the restaurant team.
Key responsibilities
- Create, purchase and manage a cellar of 300+ wines.
- Inspire and train staff using your wine knowledge.
- Assist with food service alongside the restaurant team when needed.
- Maintain the highest standards of wine and drinks service.
- Recommend food and wine pairings to guests.
- Deliver wine events and tastings.
- Manage cellar stock distribution and ownership.
- Drive sales to maximise restaurant profit.
Required profile
- Team player with previous experience as a sommelier.
- Passionate about delivering top‑level guest service.
- Professional wine decanting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and strong attention to detail.
- Well‑presented and courteous.
- Qualified to Level 2 WSET or CMS.
Required skills
- WSET Level 2 certification.
- CMS qualification.
- Wine decanting technique.
