Space Software Engineering Placement – 12‑Month Internship

About the role

Join Airbus Defence & Space in Stevenage as a Space Software Engineering Placement. Over 12 months you will work on satellite programmes, developing on‑board software and gaining hands‑on experience in an agile, multi‑disciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Shadow and collaborate with the software development team to understand the full software lifecycle.
• Design, develop, document and test code under supervision, using languages such as C, C++, Java and Python.
• Participate in pair‑programming, code reviews and multi‑developer team activities.
• Research and apply cutting‑edge technologies, including embedded solutions linked to hardware components like FPGA.

Required profile

• Undergraduate currently studying Software Engineering (must remain an undergraduate for the placement duration).
• Demonstrated interest in space and satellite projects.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
