Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Infectious Diseases

About the role
This new post is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative pharmacist looking to specialise in infectious diseases and work as part of a collaborative and forward‑thinking team. You will play a key role in delivering high quality pharmaceutical care to patients within the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit (RIDU).
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high quality pharmaceutical care to patients within the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit (RIDU).
- Work across a variety of infection services, including inpatient wards, outpatient HIV/ID clinics and Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) on a rotational basis.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of infectious diseases clinicians, clinical nurse specialists, pharmacists and pharmacy support staff.
- Support and develop other members of the pharmacy team.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of pharmacy services in response to emerging challenges around site capacity and patient flow, including OPAT.
Required profile
- Master of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent) and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Completed training or equivalent competence mapped to the RPS Post‑Registration Foundation Pharmacist Curriculum.
- Independent prescriber qualification desirable, with training support available.
- Experience influencing prescribing and using clinical knowledge to optimise patient care.
- Strong patient‑focused approach and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills for decision‑making in an acute medical setting.
- Proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
