Specialist Dietitian – Lothian Acute Team

About the role

The Lothian Acute Dietetic Team is seeking an experienced Specialist Dietitian to develop a pre‑habilitation service for colorectal and urological cancer patients and to deliver inpatient nutrition support on the respiratory ward at Western General Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead a pre‑habilitation pathway for patients with colorectal and urological cancers.
• Provide comprehensive dietetic assessment and nutrition care to in‑patients on the respiratory ward.
• Participate in the training and supervision of B & C level dietetic students.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across clinical specialties as needed.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audit and quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered Dietitian with substantial experience in acute hospital settings.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new clinical services.
• Commitment to teaching and supporting student placements.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and willingness to undergo PVG Scheme registration.

Required skills

• PVG Scheme membership (child and/or adult) or ability to obtain it before start.
• Proficiency in clinical nutrition assessment and intervention.
• Strong communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
