Specialist Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are partnering with inclusive schools in Sunderland to provide dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistants. You will support pupils with additional learning and developmental needs, helping them achieve academic and personal success.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND in classroom and intervention settings
• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support tailored to individual needs
• Work closely with teachers, SENDCOs and external professionals
• Promote pupil engagement, behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Assist with the delivery of interventions and learning activities
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people in education, care or support settings
• Genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexible and professional approach
• Willingness to travel to schools across Sunderland and surrounding areas
• Driving licence and vehicle access beneficial but not essential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
