Speech and Language Therapist – Specialist Children’s Services

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated part‑time Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Specialist Children’s Services team in East Renfrewshire. Working from Barrhead Health and Care Centre, you will support children and young people with speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties, collaborating closely with families and multidisciplinary partners.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and deliver therapy for children and young people with speech, language, communication and eating/swallowing difficulties.
• Plan and implement individualized therapy programmes, including complex cases.
• Manage a specialist caseload autonomously, prioritising risk and need.
• Supervise Clinical Support Workers and ensure quality of delegated work.
• Participate in clinical supervision, peer review, operational management and Care Aims processes.
• Review referrals with the SLT Team Leader/Manager and coordinate onward referrals to CAMHS, OT, physiotherapy or educational psychology as required.

Required profile

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist, registered with the appropriate professional body.
• Experience working with children and families in community or specialist settings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and supervision.

Required skills

• Assessment and diagnostic skills for speech, language and communication disorders.
• Therapeutic planning and delivery for diverse paediatric populations.
• Caseload management and risk analysis.
• Supervisory skills for supporting Clinical Support Workers.
