Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant – September Start

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate Sports Coach who can also act as a Teaching Assistant in an Alternative Provision setting. You will work directly with pupils aged 11‑19 (and potentially 4‑19) who have SEM‑related needs, helping them engage with lessons and develop positive learning habits.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils during lessons and throughout the school day.
• Develop an understanding of individual learning styles and SEMH needs.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers and senior staff to tailor support.
• Assist in managing challenging behaviour and promote a safe learning environment.
• Adapt support across different year groups according to your experience and preference.

Required profile

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or childcare‑related qualification (desired).
• Experience working with children in UK schools.
• Strong ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Resilient, proactive and positive attitude.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the last two years.

• Daily rate between £88‑£115 (equivalent to £21,600‑£28,800 per year).
