Staff Analytics Engineer – Borrowing

About the role

Monzo is looking for a Staff Analytics Engineer to shape the data foundation of its fast‑growing Borrowing business. You will work across product, credit, engineering, and data platform teams to turn complex data challenges into reliable, scalable data products that drive better business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Architect Borrowing’s data layer at scale, defining how 1,700+ models across 12+ products are structured and evolved.
• Partner with Analytics Engineering, Product, Engineering, Credit, and Data Platform to establish shared patterns for trusted, consistent data.
• Design and govern production‑grade data assets with clear ownership, SLAs, documentation, and interfaces.
• Move the team beyond ad‑hoc tables toward well‑defined, contractual data products usable for analytics, machine learning, decisioning, and regulatory reporting.
• Contribute to Monzo’s broader data architecture transformation and support expansion into new markets.

Required profile

• Proven experience building large‑scale data products and data models in a fast‑moving environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work across cross‑functional teams.
• Track record of establishing data governance and production‑grade data standards.
