Staff Engineer – Embedded Accountancy Platform

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Engineer to lead the technical strategy for our new Embedded Accountancy project at our Norwich head office. In this role you will bridge system architecture with complex financial domains, working closely with external partners such as Sage to deliver a seamless, secure user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, integration and architecture of the Embedded Accountancy product ecosystem.
• Integrate and maintain robust, compliant, and secure connections to Sage financial service APIs.
• Mentor and guide engineering squads, ensuring high standards for code quality and architectural integrity.
• Translate technical concepts for executive stakeholders, product managers and engineering teams to align delivery with business objectives.
• Establish documentation standards, performance profiling frameworks and system observability practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Senior, Lead or Staff Engineer level within a modern cloud‑native environment.
• Strong background in building microservices, distributed system integration patterns and data schema architecture.
• Demonstrated technical leadership with a track record of cross‑functional alignment and mentorship.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
