Staff Nurse – Surgical Ward

About the role

The Northumbria Hospital is seeking motivated Staff Nurses to join a fast‑paced surgical ward. You will work under the Ward Manager/Matron on a Nurse Practitioner‑led team, providing holistic care to patients undergoing breast, bariatric, GI and gynaecological surgery.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for elective and post‑admission patients.
• Organise and co‑ordinate nursing services in the ward, especially when senior staff are absent.
• Maintain high clinical standards and adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, specialist nurses and medical staff.
• Model compassionate, inclusive leadership to foster a collective leadership culture.
