Student Placement – Purchasing

About the role

We are looking for a motivated student to join our Purchasing team in Middlesbrough for a fixed‑term placement. The role offers hands‑on experience in procurement processes within a global leader of energy and telecom cables.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the expansion of the B2B e‑procurement system into new business areas.
• Manage B2B processes, including system administration, user training and supplier liaison.
• Support internal customers by improving procurement cycle efficiency.
• Handle supplier base approval and maintain the central purchasing database.
• Investigate invoice discrepancies, communicate contract renewals and terminations.
• Participate in contract negotiations and pricing agreement set‑up.
• Conduct spend analysis, market research and update the purchasing dashboard.
• Maintain SAP supplier price records and analyse payment terms.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor degree programme.
• Seeking a student placement to support learning and development.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Experience with SAP or similar ERP procurement modules.
