About the role
The Student Support Officer is the first point of contact for students seeking guidance, information, and assistance. Working from the Student Hub in Tower Hill or Aldgate, you will help create a welcoming, inclusive environment while ensuring students receive accurate advice on academic procedures and campus services.
Key responsibilities
- Provide front‑line advice on timetables, assessments, university policies and campus services.
- Respond to student queries via email, phone and in‑person, maintaining a professional and empathetic approach.
- Log and track enquiries, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reporting for service improvement.
- Signpost students to specialist support teams and collaborate with academic departments, student services and administrative staff.
- Support student engagement initiatives, events such as enrolment and open days, and promote awareness of available resources.
- Uphold Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, Health & Safety, and Data Protection standards.
Required profile
- Experience working with students, external stakeholders, and in student services or campus operations within higher or further education.
- Strong understanding of student representation structures and feedback mechanisms.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent and data protection regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive, solution‑focused attitude.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Required skills
- High IT literacy and competency with student management systems.
