Sub Editor & Writer – Financial Markets Publication

About the role

DisruptionBanking, an internationally recognised online newswire, is seeking a motivated Sub‑Editor and Writer to support its editorial team. This full‑time position is ideal for a recent graduate passionate about journalism and financial markets, offering a fast‑paced environment in London’s Canary Wharf area.

Key responsibilities

• Edit and proofread articles to ensure flawless grammar, tone and adherence to DisruptionBanking’s voice.
• Fact‑check information, data and sources to maintain journalistic integrity.
• Apply basic SEO principles using tools such as Google Analytics and SEMRush.
• Coordinate article workflow, liaising with writers, the Features Editor and the design team to meet deadlines.
• Provide constructive feedback to contributors alongside the Features Editor.
• Assist with page layout, visuals and treatments to create engaging content.
• Contribute ideas for special features, develop them and help plan larger projects.
• Adapt press releases into reader‑friendly articles.
• Utilise AI large‑language models (Claude, Grok, ChatGPT, Gemini) to enhance publishing processes.

Required profile

• A degree in Journalism, Communications, English or a related field.
• Some editing, writing or publishing experience (internship or student media).
• A small portfolio of written articles.
• Familiarity with financial markets, banking or trading.
• Strong attention to detail and solid grasp of grammar and syntax.
• Enthusiasm for learning SEO tools such as SEMRush and Google Analytics.
• Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Passion for finance, technology or global business trends (bonus).
• Familiarity with CMS platforms or digital publishing (advantageous).
• Willingness to work two days a week onsite in the Canary Wharf office.
