Supermarket Assistant, Team Leader

About the role

John Lewis Partnership is recruiting a Supermarket Assistant, Team Leader for a temporary part-time position at its Waitrose shop in South Bank Tower, London. The role is paid at £16.28 per hour and covers 22.5 hours per week on Wednesdays (14:30-22:30), Thursdays (15:00-22:30) and Saturdays (06:00-14:30). Time worked between 22:00 and 06:00 attracts night premium of £3.75 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Support the shop's management team with managerial tasks and work with all other areas of the shop to meet customer demand.
• Ensure Partners operate safely and legally.
• Fulfill online customer orders ready for delivery to customers' doors.
• Replenish stock so shelves stay full and products are in the right place at the right time.
• Work with the wider shop team on checkout support, Click & Collect orders and on-demand orders.
• Help drive the shop's commercial performance and suggest improvements.
• Reduce wastage by following product due diligence and markdowns for items approaching sell-by dates.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment with general shopkeeping tasks.

Required profile

• Applicants must be 18 years or over due to working time regulations.
• Experience in a customer-facing role.
• Desirable: Duty Manager training (internal Partners only).

Required skills

• Good people and leadership skills.
• Understanding of retail and how to maximise commercial success.
• Stakeholder management with third parties and the wider Partnership.
