Supply Year 1 Teacher – Dover

About the role

Hays Education is partnering with primary schools across Dover to recruit enthusiastic Year 1 teachers on a supply basis. This full‑time, temporary role supports pupils as they move from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1, delivering engaging lessons that develop literacy, numeracy and confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Create and deliver creative, curriculum‑aligned lessons for Year 1 classes.
• Support pupils in developing key literacy and numeracy skills.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively with parents and carers.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of each child.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it.
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 1, preferably Year 1.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
• Passion for fostering confidence and a love of learning in young children.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.

Required skills

• Effective lesson planning and delivery.
• Knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
