Support Worker – Adult Learning Disability & Mental Health

About the role

Join a small, friendly team in Stanwix, Carlisle, delivering 24‑hour supported living for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. You will work across seven fully furnished one‑bedroom flats, helping residents live independently while enjoying a supportive community environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide positive, person‑centred support that encourages residents to engage in community activities.
• Follow and develop personalised support plans to build domestic, financial and emotional management skills.
• Build warm, trusting relationships with each resident.
• Communicate and collaborate with statutory bodies, voluntary agencies, families and advocates.
• Work flexibly on a seven‑day rota covering morning, afternoon and sleep‑in shifts.

Required profile

• Positive outlook with enthusiasm for supporting adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Awareness of the challenges faced by residents and understanding of supported‑living care delivery.
• Prior support‑related experience is beneficial but not essential.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills are required; focus is on caring and communication abilities.
