Support Worker – Harm Reduction Service

About the role

You will join a multi‑disciplined team delivering a low‑threshold, harm‑reduction service for people experiencing alcohol dependency and homelessness. The role supports day‑to‑day operations, reception duties and assists case workers in delivering personalised support plans.

Key responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for service users, agencies and visitors, providing a warm and professional welcome.
• Maintain daily reception, building management and health‑and‑safety standards, including cleaning and safety checks.
• Support service users with practical tasks such as meal preparation, laundry and upkeep of living spaces.
• Assist case workers with activities that help users meet personal goals, e.g., financial, creative or educational tasks.
• Maintain accurate records, manage petty cash, invoices and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 GCSEs (A‑C) including Maths and English or equivalent.
• At least 1 year paid relevant experience or 2 years volunteering in a similar setting.
• Understanding of homelessness, alcohol dependency and related statutory resources.
• Ability to work a 7‑day rota covering mornings, evenings, weekends and nights.
• Enhanced Access NI check and NISCC registration (or ability to obtain).

Required skills

• Proficiency with IT systems for recording client information.
• Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management processes.
