Support Worker – Homeless Services

About the role

The Support Worker will support and sign‑post service users to improve their housing, health and wellbeing, delivering personalised support plans, targeted interventions and group work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide front‑line reception, building management and day‑to‑day service running tasks.
• Support service users in their transition into the service and assist case workers with bespoke support plans.
• Act as the first point of contact for service users, agencies and visitors, ensuring a warm and professional welcome.
• Maintain accurate service user records and communicate timely updates to colleagues.
• Carry out health and safety checks, identify building defects and ensure compliance with Depaul policies.
• Perform administration duties such as petty cash, invoicing, record keeping and IT system updates.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 GCSEs A‑C including Maths and English.
• At least 1 year paid relevant experience or 2 years volunteering in a similar role.
• Understanding of homelessness, its causes and the support pathways available.
• Knowledge of statutory and voluntary sector resources for people at risk of homelessness.
• Commitment to Depaul’s values and a collaborative, holistic approach to service delivery.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of risk assessment and risk management processes.
• Proficiency with IT systems for recording client information.
